I had my Sleeve done on Oct 1, 2014 and I have been trying to drink my liquids but it hurts. I am not sure if it is spasms or what. I am trying to get liquids in but I am struggling. I am a bit shaky as well because I feel my body is in starvation mode or something. I have 3 different Gas X products and none of them are working. I am walking and still little relief. Can I get any advice?

When I had my surgery the same thing was happening to me.

I switched to room temp, or warm/hot drinks and it helped. For me, it may be different for you, I could not (and still can't) drink the Vitamin Water zeros or any of the Water additives. Something about what's in them does not sit well in my throat or stomach. Felt (and still does feel) like sandpaper going down.

It becomes a trial and error finding out what works best for you. Because what works for one person, doesn't work for another. Good luck with your recovery.

Keep walking. When you are sitting, use a rocking chair or glider and rock. Cross your arms in front of your tummy and lean forward and back as you rock back and forth to get even more motion involved.

Gas-X is probably a waste of your time -- Gas-X is for intestinal gas, not CO2 trapped in your body cavity.

You might want to try using a heating pad on your neck, shoulders, chest, and/or tummy depending on which areas are most painful.

Sip on warm liquids. Don't be a hero about pain -- take your painkillers if you are not!

You just had major surgery. Give yourself permission to feel crappy and out of sorts for a while. Rest and nap as much as you need. But keep pushing on the sipping and walking. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
