lap band pain vs tubal litigation pain?

Recommended Posts

OK. This may sound realy weird to some but I was just wondering how many have had their tubes tied and the lap band and how does the pain/soreness compare afterward? I have read so many posts on hear about not having pain and having pain that I was just wondering if anyone can compare the two for me. Thanks!!!

I've had both surgeries and the tubal was far easier on me. Of course, I had the tubal when I was 24 and only weighed 120 pounds, so I think that's why I had an easy time with it. At 39 yrs old and 218 pounds, any surgery is going to be rougher. The swelling and bloating from the lap-band surgery lasted a couple of weeks instead of days. The pain was also much worse. It was a good 5-6 days before I even felt well enough to drive. With the tubal, I was back to normal within 2 days. Even though the lap-band surgery was very rough for me, I don't regret my decision at all. Pain is temporary and it's well worth the results.

Yes, I can....I remember how sore I was after my tubes were tied, and to me ...it is close to the same.....the only difference....when the tubes were tied, I only had one incision...with the lapband, I have six incisions...It took me a few more days to get over the lapband...but...I am 54 years old....and when I had my tubes tied, I was 23 years old....The pain is not that bad...you are more uncomfortable than anything....you are not in screaming pain....you will be very sore and it will hurt to move around those first few days, but then you will start to feel better....and you will have meds ....that will take care of you pain...

Thanks for you replies. I was sore after the tubal and I just gave into it and laid in bed for 2 days. WRONG thing to do. I needed to MAKE myself move around so believe me I think I have learned from that mistake. This helps me put it into a little perspective.

Same here...no one told me to expect gas pain and walk as much as possible when I had my tubal! I'm so glad I was told this time how to reduce, if not eliminate, the gas pain.

I had my band in 01/07/05 and my tubal 08/06 and my band was no pain at all but my tubal I was out for 2 weeks, my doctor would'nt do it through my belly button because she didnt understand how the band was done so she went through my pubic line with a 3-4 inch incision, it is just like having a c-section but with no baby.

OTT, is tubal permanent?

OTT, is tubal permanent?

Yes. Theorectically, it can be surgically reversed, but there's a good chance that the reversal won't work. And I can't imagine that any insurance company would pay for a reversal.

I can! I was just banded on Monday, May 7. I have also had my tubes tied. The pain was exactly equal for me! Hope this helps! Good Luck.

Usually the insurance companies will not pay for a reversal, thats why you really have to think about it and also sign a consent form saying you do understand it is permanent.

Yes it is supposed to be permanent. Unfortunately after I had my tubes tied I married 2 years later and my husband and I talked about reversal. My insurnace (BCBS of Iowa) does not cover that but they cover to do it. (I had different insurance when I had them tied) Then just out of curousity we looked into out of pocket amount and the surgery was $21,000.00 and it is HARD to conceive even after reversal due to scar tissue so we've decided not to have it done for several reasons 1 being I have 2 children from a previous marriage and they are both teenagers so that would ultimately mean raising a 'new' family. Didn't want to do this after we thought about it.

My mom had hers tied when we were younger and then 'untied' when she married my step dad and she conceived 4 times but lost each one. I didnt think I could handle the heartache of that so we are happy with what God has given us.:)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
