Lack of Energy Or Just Lazy?

Recommended Posts

I'll be a month out October 8th, I have a group of friends I follow who also had surgery the same time as me and they are moving along great, walking, planning 5k's, getting their Water in and Protein. I had this expectation that I would want to start working out or at least walking and getting outside and have this great energy and drive when I had lost a good amount of weight and was feeling well enough. But here I am a month out almost and I've done NOTHING...Oh and water and Protein Drinks have kind of been pushed to the back burner, I have no interest in the protein drinks anymore and have been eating other protein in it's place. I just worry because I feel like I really have no drive to do anything, But maybe I'm just not giving myself enough credit I'm 25lbs down, I just started a new job working 36hours a week (starting at 6am) caring for a small infant that is very demanding and I also have my own 4 year old to care for and entertain at the same time..Not to mention my husband who doesn't help much at home, Though he does work full time and takes care of us financially so I can't complain too much. I don't feel like I've been overly tired or anything unusual but I just can't seem to get off the couch, Am I being Lazy or just missing my Energy?

Protein, protein, protein!!! You need to make sure you are getting your required amounts. If you are lacking energy, you body is telling you it needs it, big time. I know you don't like the shakes, but just do it. You will see a huge difference in how you feel.

I'm eating 6oz or so of chicken/turkey a day, I try having a glass of Sugar Free Chocolate milk in the evening with my skim plus which has 11g of Protein in it and half a thing of my Protein Shake which has 30g in it as well as 1 Pocket Protein which has 18g of protein.

Lazy or no energy. It's a GREAT question. :)

BTW, 60 to 80 grams of Protein a day is what we need. Just sayin'.

All I'm doing thus far is walking the dog 30 minutes a day. But I swear I feel AWFUL when I don't do it.

If you could figure out a way to do a couple of 10-15 minute walks, I promise it'd reward you a lot.

I will be a month out on the 15th so I'm right behind you. I personally am not crazy about my Protein Shake either but I do drink the because it helps out with my energy. I overall feel good. I go to the gym for about 1-2 hours a day and walk in the evenings for around 45 minutes to an hour a day. I guess everybody's energy levels are different but u should try to drink the more often it will help u alot

I feel fine otherwise, I mean I think I'm just being lazy but I'm also caring for 2 households a day and 2 children (3 if you count my husband). I've had day's where I reach 80g of Protein and honestly I don't feel any different, I just want to sit on my butt and do nothing after doing everything.

So maybe I just need to suck it up and push myself.

Personally when I do not have enough Water I feel sluggish and my mood is not great  . If your Protein and calories on target look into daily Water it might be a contributing factor.

I get in 80-110 grams of Protein a day. I have to work 40 hours plus work at home. I don't think your lazy. Because I have to push myself to work out. I do workout but my NUT said to work out every other day because I was wailing about 5 miles a day and was burning myself out. Caring for 2 (3 if you count your husband) is exhausting in itself. But if you could find at least 30

Minutes a day it would make you feel better. Good luck superwoman! You seem to be losing just fine.

I fully admit to being a lazy slug if I give into my baser inclinations. And every once in awhile you are fully entitled to do so. But if you are just feeling sluggish and have no energy, you might need to re-evaluate your routine and or Protein intake. I'm allowed coffee, and the only way I am going to get in Protein powder is to put a scoop of vanilla body fortress in my morning coffee. shakes are tolerable at best. Gross at worst. I find it dissolves the best and doesn't clump up which some other brands do. Then I top the coffee off with a shot of sugar free caramel, vanilla or pumpkin spice Syrup. This way I get my Protein easy peasy.

Reading your responses, I think that your daily routine is just what is causing your slugishness. Taking care of kids all day is not easy. Is there any way to dial back your hours, or start later so that you can get in some you time early in the morning? Some people feel better if they get up early and get in some treadmill or spin or whatever it is they like to do time.

@@Forsythia Unfortunately there's no way for my to start later, I wish there was.

I'm going to try to get all of my Protein and Water in this week and see if it makes me feel a little better.

I guess maybe eventually I'll get into a routine of some sort and think about adding the gym in the evenings. I'll be honest, I've really been pushing that gym membership off because I'm intimidated by my local gym but they are the only one who offer any sort of child care. So I really just need to get up and go talk to someone, It's probably not as bad as my head's made it out to be.

I love my gym. Honestly, no one is going to care if you are on the treadmill. You get into this mental zone where it is just you and the machine you are on where you tune out all the other goings on. And this is generally how everyone is. Besides, at 230, you will not even be the fattest fat person at your gym - trust me. I was the fattest fat person at my gym when I was 312 lbs and no one paid me any attention or made fun of me or anything.

@@Forsythia Oh I know all these thing's are truth, I did have a gym membership somewhere else that was a lot more relaxed and a bigger gym, So I could always find an area to sort of hide and workout. The one in town however is a very small local place and filled with meat Heads and Health Buffs so It makes me a little leery..

My Anxiety get's the best of me, Fattest person at the gym or not it still exist.

I feel your pain! I had surgery on 9/8 as well and my energy is definitely not where it used to be. Even though my energy isn't there, I make myself exercise every day (except Sunday, that's my break day). I've been walking an hour, which is 3 miles a day. Even though it's a chore, make yourself do it. Once I do it, I do feel energized. I also can't do the Protein Shakes any longer, so I've been eating foods rich in Protein. I'm thinking the lack of energy will go away when I can eat normal food again!

I went through something similar and when I asked my doctor about it, she said my hemoglobin was low and put me on extra Iron. It was low going into surgery (it should be 12, pre-op labs showed it was actually 7). Thank God I didn't need a transfusion. So I was really sluggish before surgery. I'm doing better now. I'm about 9 weeks out. Also, someone said they feel off when they don't get enough Water. Yeah, me too. Good Luck, Sweetie.xoxox

I understand you exactly. I was sleeved on 9/11. I am tired. But I force myself to workout. Yesterday I was so tired I did not make it to the gym. So after my nap I pull ed out my Zumba DVD and dance for an hour with the kids. Then I felt better.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
