Gawd. I obsess about food more now....

Recommended Posts

Than I Did before wls. While I eat much healthier and much, much less, I think about food often. My frig is always stocked. God forbid I run out ofbsomething. I waste so much food

Hubby thinks about food when hes hungry. What a concept. I plan/think ahead. He flies by the seat of his pants. I think about my next meal during my current meal

As I said: I eat much better now and alot less. But I think about food too much.

Anyone else hate their relationship with food?

I'm the same as you (eat way less and better and think about food all the time) but I like it (? :)) I enjoy finding the most nutritious food instead now. I can't do fly by seat of pants like him either, I find I put on when I eat reactively.

I'm the same way!

I love cooking and planning meals, Always have guess I always will.

My fridge and both freezers are packed full of food even though it's just me, My husband and 4yo daughter and yes I am guilty of wasting food.

I second that emotion, I keep buying food as if I'm going to eat as I used to eat. I find myself constantly going to the store because, "I need something," the truth is I just haven't come to terms with the fact that now my eyes are LITERALLY bigger than my stomache.

Not me.

I'm 48 days post-op, and the biggest reason I think about food planning is so I can record it all in My Fitness Pal so I consume enough Protein.

Not saying there aren't some things that taste good (had Wendy's chili today - 1/2 cup with 1/2 ounce of sharp cheddar). But the short supply post-op of ghrelin / hunger hormone in my system means I am so much less interested in it.

Besides, I'm not a big cook. So Greek yogurt often suffices for lunch or Breakfast.

I'm pretty lazy when it comes to planning meals. I usually stock up on yogurt, Protein shakes, and frozen atkins/lean cuisine/weight watchers meals for work (well, not right now since I left my job.. but when I do work.). For dinner.. well sometimes I just eat a couple slices of deli meat or left overs. I don't have a family to feed (I have a husband, but often he works a funky schedule so he is not always home for dinner) so I'm not so stressed about what to eat and when.

Lol, I do that. I have a huge variety of things to eat. When I look at it all in the fridge I think, how will I possibly eat that ALL? I buy 4 peaches, I can eat half. They rot before I can eat them all. It's a struggle.

Yes, I definitely think about food more. You have to really..... And I think part of it is because I'm mindfully eating instead of mindlessly eating. But, you're right, it does seem like the trouble nature of the relationship with food is never ending...even at goal weight!

Same here. I am always on Allrecipes looking at yummy recipes. I had a tterrible food dream last night. In the back of the store there was nothing but varieties of pastries,OMG! Lol. I have a special spot in my fridge with my leftovers. There's more leftovers for my family because I am not eating it. My eyes are definitely bigger than my tummy. But I am more interested in healthy foods and cooking now.

I would say I obsess over food now, but in a good way. I think to myself, "I didn't pay $ xxx $ or workout 2 hours to eat THAT!" ^_^

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
