MamaRita 65 Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) Anyone else have a hernia repair with their surgery? Wondering if this is adding to the pain.... Edited October 5, 2014 by MamaRita
toveylapgal 15 Posted October 5, 2014 I didn't have hernia repair but I did have a post op bleed which required a 2nd surgery that same day. The dr explained that there are lots of nerves in that area and once they have to move around too much it does cause a lot of increased pain
CherieRyde 227 Posted October 5, 2014 Congratulations on your new band! I hope that you are feeling a little better today. Just remember that it takes about 2 weeks to feel "normal" again.
JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted October 5, 2014 I have a small hiatal hernia that the doc planned to fix if needed. He decided it wasn't needed once he was in there.

Debbie3sons 1,936 Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) I had hiatal hernia repair when my Surgeon did my band , I am so Happy that he did as before I had MAJOR IBS & gerd, reflux & really bad heartburn , I am 2 years post op & ,still eat spicy foods & have no problems with any of that now ,you are still in the healing process ,it gets better but you will be sore for maybe a week , if it doesn't change then talk to your Doctor , if you are feeling faint, try a sugar free popsicle or sugar free pudding just so you have something , also don't forget to take your Vitamins & take the liquid pain meds to see if it helps , also remember to walk around your house for a few minutes when you can , it will be hard at first but it does get better. MamaRita 65 Posted October 6, 2014 Thank you Debbie, I managed to eat some yogurt and am still,on the pain meds, although I am only taking half a dose now, so that's improvement. I do like spicy food, and am hoping when I am all healed that I will be able to enjoy it heartburn free:)

Debbie3sons 1,936 Posted October 9, 2014 Just asking are you talking about a Hiatal Hernia or a different kind of hernia , because Usually if you're getting banded they do a Hiatal hernia repair , all I know is I am so Happy they did mine.
MamaRita 65 Posted October 9, 2014 Yes it was a hiatal hernia, he said it was a small one, and he repaired it, I still have a lot of tenderness to left of the port incision, I go back to my Drs for a checkup on Monday, so hopefully all is well????
Queenz_Cece 15 Posted October 9, 2014 @"MamaRita" they told me they found a his talent hernia as well and the most pain I'm feeling is on my left by the port. They kept overnight due to the pain from the hernia. My blood pressure and heart rate went high as well which made them keep me two more days. I home now with an ice pack on my incisions and it feels good. Hope you're doing better.
