I am 16 days post op. I had lost 29 lbs in 2 weeks. Now I gained 3 lbs! WTH! I don't understand? I am doing what I am supposed to. Is this normal? I am still on pureed foods. I added 1 tablespoon of pureed chicken breast instead of a Protein Shake to fight the fatigue. Could that have done it?

I'll just copy/paste the answer I gave to someone else less than a week ago who asked the same thing:

A search will show you dozens ... and dozens ... of threads about the stall that happens around week 2-3 post-op. Your body just had major surgery. Give it a break and relax and get well. Put the scale away and don't bring it out again for a couple of weeks. Be good to yourself, let yourself heal. Stalls happen all the time, this isn't a sprint it's a marathon.

Thank you. I have such a fear of failure. I started this journey at 363 lbs. My first goal is to get out of the 300s.

No fear. How can you be afraid when you've done something that not everyone could do? I sincerely doubt that you will be the one person who doesn't lose weight with this surgery :)

Relax, you'll heal faster and have a smoother recovery.

You're doing fine - your body is just trying to figure out what's going on. Let it. Keep working your plan and following doc's orders.

When I was newly sleeved I weighed many times - daily, sometimes more than once per day. That's not good. My husband hid the scale from me and brought it out once per week. It saved my sanity.

I took pictures of myself often and took my measurements - that really told the story about my journey. That helped me so much more than the scale.< /p>

At 10 months out, the scale no longer has power over me. I won't let it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
