Morning all!

I wanted to know if anyone had any scar remedies, creams or treatments they could recommend.

Zulily.com has Scar away cream on sale and I was wondering if it was any good.

I've tried things like mederma and they never made much of a difference to me. My mom has always sworn by popping open a Vitamin e capsule and using that.

I tried scar away (for band surgery as well as c section), I think it does make a difference If you use it religiously and incorporate other skin healing treatments like dry body brushing, aloe vera gel, coconut/almond oil etc. honestly I lost interest in the scar away bandage thingies so I cant be sure how much credit they get in diminishing my barely visible scars. but I'd suggest trying Bio oil too which Ive seen a lot of good reviews about. And aloe vera, Im in love with the stuff and use it all the time. Its easy to care for as a plant too and you can just chop a piece off every morning and rub the goowy gel right into your skin!

I used Mederma on my sleeve scars for maybe a week before I got bored with it. Within a year they had faded to being barely visible. I've been using BioCorneum on my plastic surgery scars and that seems to be working well, although I really think genetics and the skill of the surgeon really matter more than anything else.

I have to go to a dermatologist and get shots in my incisions to make the scars go away. I produce to much collagen, which in tern cause big scars. Not fun at all. But, I am sure a dermatologist could also help with this issue with regular scars.

Are you African-American? Are these keloid scars? A good experienced dermatologist can help with scar revision.

I haven't had the surgery yet. I was just asking for future reference.

If the scars bother me too much later on I will probably just cover them with tats

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
