anyone getting sleeved in DECEMBER?

I'm a little scared. I'm worry about silly things like not using a straw anymore.

I'm going to miss drinking with a straw too. I'm worried about my sinus headaches, they are hard to deal with. The med that works best is a tablet.

Dr said I should be able to take it hopefully. Maybe the sinus problem will clear up.

I am scheduled for December 30th, but I am not sure I am boing to be able to do follow through with it then. Work is getting super hectic and I was just out for a different surgery for 2 weeks about a month ago. I'm still nervous about this surgery, too.

Don't do anything that is permanent, like this surgery, until you are confident in your decision. Take time to explore and make sure this is the best route for you.

Agreed! I am about 97% sure. I just don't know when it will happen with my schedule and recovery from my other surgery. the 3% of me that is unsure is not about the surgery itself. Cheering everyone on with their surgeries. We can gain so much from having it!

Yes, no more straws. They add extra air into your stomach and can cause gas or stretch it out. My doctor is stern about it.

You have all gone through the Psych eval; what was it like? For some reason, I am nervous about it.

During mine, the doctor asked me questions about my expectations and had me explain the surgery to her. I think she wanted to make sure I understood what I was doing.

Mine asked what I was doing and why I was doing it. How does my family and spouse feel about it. Will there be jealousy or a chance of infidelity( yes, he asked that). Also what led to my weight gain. Did I feel like I couldn't control myself or was addicted to food.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
