My psych eval screwed me up. I'm hoping for my grief counselor to help me get over this hurdle. It's so Damn annoying

My cardiologist made me go for a complete work up. Everything turned out good. Her concern was not so much the surgery but the stress put on a person with the drastic rapid weight loss. Hand in - it will al be worth it.

You have to press your insurance, I have a super long story but I'll make it short. I have a BMI of 38 and only 39 years old. My first surgeon got me approved for the band after I said I wanted the sleeve, said it was cheaper. My co pay was the same for both, he wanted me to pay for his co surgeon at the tune of four grand extra. I filed a complaint and insurance agreed but had to switch surgeons. Three weeks after approving me with the first doctor they denied the second. Two weeks of appeals and they denied it again for a missing signature by my PCP. I finally escalated the issue and had everything documented and when I informed them I was going public with my story they approved it. I personally think they figure most will give up and go away. You have to stay vigilant. My two cents. There is hope.

I totally agree, whatever you do don't give up! The insurance company is hoping you will give up, but if you bombard them with letters, phone calls, etc., they will approve you. You just have to be willing to FIGHT!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
