No, my insurance doesn't cover this type of surgery! I paid $3499! I had surgery on the 16th! Check him out www.mycompletetransformation.com

Try Dr. Clayton Frenzel in dallas, Tx! I paid a total of $3499.00 for everything!!!

I would be terrified to have surgery in the US for that price. Would make me really wonder what corners they were cutting to keep the price that low. Hell, that's $3000 less than I paid in Mexico! I don't think I'd even be comfortable going to a Mexican surgeon for that price.

Well, I had it and I am fine! I guess I forgot to add I had a hiatal hernia repair that my insurance did cover! I didn't want to go into detail, that is why I posted the website!

I saw on the web site that the standard rate for VSG is over $10,000 and the $3500 rate is for "qualified patients only". Maybe that's what the mean, that if you qualify for hernia repair, they only charge $3500, because then insurance is covering your hospital stay and anesthesiologist (two of the things that make surgery in the US more expensive).

So, I am self pay. I was quoted 12,000in fla., but if there are post op complications,it's on me. Anyone know if insurance would cover post op complications if the original surgery did not go through them?

It depends on your insurance policy. You should call them and ask. That's what I did.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
