My chronically skinny friends wont get this and my overweight friends immediately mae "envy comments".... so I come here. I can buy normal clothes! I have NEVER bought clothes at costco despite it being my parents' favorite store, Today I bought 2 shirts there! Larges! Nd they're loose! I felt super excited. Had to share w/people who get it!

Totally get it! I bought a cute Green Tea sweatshirt from Sam's Club the other day - Large.

This summer I was in a "regular" size store and spotted a pair of shorts that looked cute. Size 14 - I took them to the fitting room and tried them on. I cried when I realized they fit. I haven't been a 14 in forever! I didn't bother looking at the price tag, I just bought them. I paid way too much for them, but who cares - that meant something to me!

Here's to you buying "normal" clothes and many more purchases to come! (I can now wear my sons t-shirts and sweatshirts! LOL)

Fit into a few of my mom's cast-offs...a 1x tee pre-op and some XL tanks post-op. Feeling kind of excited and hopeful about buying clothes again. Bought a few activewear tanks the other day...2x... But whatever. Yay!

I bought a pair of size 14 pants and wore them to work Thursday. A co-worker said "I almost got some pants just like that. You are shopping in normal sizes now. " I kinda went back to my office and cried. She knows I had surgery. I am happy but mad it has taken so long to get to this point.

Oh, yes, I get that! I love their yoga pants! Bought the XLs, then the Large, and now I think I could use a medium. It's so liberating! Keep on doing that happy dance - being thin never gets old!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
