Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Susan, this is my first time writing on this forum. I'm 7 months out. I don't know if there is a post like this already on this forum, i couldn't find one.

I think it will be helpful if we post what we eat each day, it might give us ideas for Breakfast, lunch, dinner or Snacks.

breakfast: chocolate Protein shake

lunch: cup of Soup

snack: plant based Protein Shake

dinner: piece of chicken with cauliflower

after dinner i'll probably have another shake to increase my Protein for the day

Ok, so tell me please, how are you able to eat this much food AND drink water; with having to wait an hour after eating to drink and no drinking 30 to 60 mins before eating? At least that's my surgeon's instructions. I'm 2 1/2 months out and I have no room for this much food. Drinking Water is my biggest struggle. I just cannot get it all in. I cam close some days.

Well, I'm lucky on that front. My nutritionist is only making me stop drinking 5 minutes before eating and 20 minutes after. So it's not too bad. Plus I'm able to drink quite a bit of Water pretty quickly now, especially during my 60-90 minute "brisk walks". The only time drinking water causes me discomfort now is first thing in the morning... the first few sips feel weird. Or if I really do try to take like 3 big swallows right in a row.

Edit: My water schedule is usually something like a half cup between when I wake up and go to work, three cups while I'm at work, a cup and a half while I work out, and one and a half to two cups throughout the evening before bed.

Ok, now that makes sense.

I just read your entire blog...from the beginning. It's amazing. Thank you. I'm 8 days post-op and so grateful to know what I'm feeling is normal (sadness, food withdrawal, emotional roller coaster). You inspire me. Thank you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
