I am so ticked off about this band! My surgeon no longer does the band, due to bad experiences that the patients have had. I am a diabetic and my Endro recommended that I have the by-pass to try to get my diabetes under better control. Now they tell me that I have to start all over again, and this whole process will take 9 to 12 months. That is really depressing, and ticks me off. It was not my fault that this band did not work, they forced me to remove all the Fluid, and won't refill. Just ranting I know, but has anyone else has this happen?

Me, I had the bypass done 10/2. I started talking to the surgeon about revising last October. You have to go through everything all over again. Psych evals, pre op testing, blood work, weight loss goal, NUT visits, the works. Hang in there you will get through it. I was unfilled for 8 months before I got the bypass and I gained up 10 lbs but that was all. I still had stuck moments with the band even unfilled. Now even with my slight nausea, my stomach feels more normal than it ever did with the band. Now Water doesn't back up on me, I'm not consistently hungry. Good luck to you!

Does your insurance require this or your doctor? When I started having complications with my band, my surgeon's office wanted me to start all over again as well, including paying another $900 program fee! I called my insurance company and they told me that if my band was not working correctly and my surgeon deemed it medically necessary, then they would cover the revision after 1 nutrition visit and a repeat psych evaluation. When I informed my surgeon's office of what my insurance company told me, they said I still had to repeat their entire program. So I found a new surgeon. He ordered testing to find out what was going on and discovered that my band had slipped. It was nothing I had done, just the faulty band. If your insurance doesn't require you to do everything all over again, then I would find a new surgeon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
