I am new to the site also. I posted a couple of times yesterday. Especially on the slow losers site because I thought there was something wrong with me. I was banded in Ypsilanti MI in Feb. of 2006. My Dr. was Dr. Jon Schramm and he and his staff are absolutely wonderful. He also has an office in Holland to see his patients on this side of the state. It helped me so much to read some of the threads and realize that this can be a slow process. It also helped me to take a close look at what I am eating and how much and how much excercise I am really getting. This is a terrific site! Thanks. I have a goal to be in "Onederland" by August. That is about 12 lbs. for me from here. I was just grateful that after I lost the 40 lbs. I didn't gain through the holiday season and really didn't try to diet or excersize much. I just appreciate the support and honesty I have found here. What a great site!

I love this site...I found it after I had my band put on in 4/07 and I wish I would have known about it before the surgery...there are so many good tips for all that have already been banded, or for those that are going to be banded...I love the group...I am going to the support group on the 14th, and I am going to tell them about this site, just in case they are not aware of it being here....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
