biggiesmalls 0 Posted May 9, 2007 I called my insurance and they said lapband is not covered, but they also said that a predtermination letter needed to be sent, if they don't cover it then why send a letter. or is it that they say they don't cover it until they get a letter, i am confused and upset. I really need this and want this, i would be so let down if they said no, anyone else that went threw this process does this sound familiar?
NicksWife22 0 Posted May 9, 2007 I think you're not going to be covered. You should call them back and ask them what they meant by that statement. Or if you have a friend in the medical field maybe they would know. If all else fails you will be a self-pay bandster. No worries, it can still happen. Alexandra 55 Posted May 9, 2007 Biggie, I think all they meant is that no one will go on record one way or the other with you until the request for preapproval is actually submitted and considered. The rep was probably telling you that the policy says it's not covered, but you won't know FOR SURE until and unless you submit a request and it is denied. Standard insurance-speak, I'm afraid.
