What are you drinking?

Recommended Posts

This is where I'm having the most trouble, I've had to be on fluids a lot longer due to complications and am/was just getting so tired of plain Water. I started drinking juice which I know is bad because of the empty calories but the most important thing for me right now is to drink drink drink to stay hydrated otherwise they will admit me back to the hospital again. I've spent a lot of the last few weeks there because I just can't get enough down to stay hydrated so I'm trying really really hard. I used to drink Vitamin Water Zero in the Lemonade flavor but it's just not tasting right to me right now. I've done the little concentrated bottles that you squeeze into water and that's helped a little. I've tried a little bit of tea but it's not usually my favorite thing to drink.

So, what are you guys drinking?

I have to stop drinking all this juice but I'm struggling with anything sounding good because everything hurts and this sounds silly but if it doesn't taste good it's hard to convince myself to drink it because it hurts so much. My doctor and I are working on fixing the pain with swallowing but I'm just trying to get some other ideas in the meantime.

I like hot herbal teas sweetened with splenda and with a tiny splash of milk.

I have been drinking the Sleepytime by Celestial Seasonings. The warm liquids go down really smooth.

I use crystal light when I want a change from regular Water.

Ask you surgeon if having sugar free popsicles or sugar free Jello would count towards your liquid intake.

These are just a couple of suggestions.

Take care.

Hi, I'm drinking Powerade Zero. I love the fruit Punch Flavor (Red) It is sugar free. I've also found a juice (100%with no added sugars) that I love. It is white grape with peach. Also, for a treat get a Chick-fil-a Diet Lemon Aide. Good Luck. Just be sure not to drink juices with "Cane Sugar" in the ingredient list. NOT WORTH THE CALORIES!!!!

I got dehydrated immediately after surgery because I couldn't stomach plain Water (pre-surgery, I drank only plain water).

I switched to Propel Zero - they have lots of flavors. Even if you have to add a little bit of plain Water, that may help. Crystal Light didn't set well with me immediately after surgery, but I can now.

You can also try a product call True Lemon or True Orange - it's crystalized lemon and orange.

Right after surgery, my doctor had me start out on a 50/50 mix of apple juice and Water. Maybe you could try that and see if it tastes better than plain water but can help cut the sugar. I mainly drink a mix of Crystal Light Lemonade and Iced Tea - a CL Arnie Palmer. :)

I don't like the taste of artificial sweeteners, so I drink dilute Lifewater, dilute Vitamin Water, dilute 100% no sugar added fruit juice, and herbal Decaf teas (both hot and over ice). I have figured out can stand to drink things like crystal light, Mio and Dasani Water drops, and propel zero if I add a little bit of real fruit juice to mask the artificial flavor.

Basically, I dilute everything I drink (including my Protein drinks) because everything tastes too sweet and strong to me. And warm things always felt better to me early on (herbal tea and broths)

I drink crystal light lemonade flavor or orange and I have just discovered strawberry orange. it's pretty good. I alternate with good old fashion spring Water. coffee in the morning.

I can't tolerate artificial sweeteners. I fill glass bottles almost to the top with Water then add a splash of unsweetened cranberry and 1/2 cup aloe juice. It is my comfort drink -- delicious, clearing, good for my digestion, etc. Also I really like ginger tea, hot or cold. Good luck to you and best wishes as you heal up; take good care of yourself.

After surgery, I didn't drink a lot of Water. I used Crystal Light. As the months rolled by, I transitioned to other liquids. During the winter months, I drank a cup or two of hot cocoa (Nesquik No Sugar Added), Decaf coffee, and wonderful English teas. I discovered that Harney & Sons make a wide variety of teas such as Royal Wedding Tea that are full of flavor.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
