How long is too long to have the bandages on? Mine were left on for 12 days. I also have a blue suture coming out of both side of the incision where the lap band was placed. Is 19 days too long to have that in? I am afraid it will be too painful to have removed once it is done.

Your doctor used silk sutures instead of dissolving sutures? When is your follow up with him/her?

yes the answer to your question. 10 days is to long. call your doctor and go in and have the sutures removed. the bandages should have come off long ago. in most cases we are showering by the second day.

The bandages came off with the first shower. Two days after surgery. The steri strips stayed on for 7. Took me a lot of scrubbing to get the gum off my skin. One stray stitch hung around so I had my family doctor give it a tug. I couldn't bring myself to do it

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
