Oh retried Beans with taco seasoning and melted cheese...where have you been my whole life lol...

I never would have eaten plain retried Beans before...but desperate times call for desperate measures hahaha

I had a huge can of vegetarian retried beans so I mixed in a packet and a half of old El Paso Taco seasoning and warned it with a little cheese. So delicious

Shelly's Ricotta Bake was my savior through my pureed stage (recipe on this page). Even though I'm on soft foods now, I still have it several times a week!

I made a casserole of scrambled eggs, cheese, salsa, and refrieds (I am from Texas!) in the microwave. A few minutes, done! I have a big bowl to eat small portions from several times a day. Nutritious and easy and having no problems with my tummy accepting it. Refrieds are awesome!

Also, try cottage cheese, marinara, and a few crushed up turkey meatballs heated together in the microwave. Lasagna without the Pasta. :)

Jamie, that ricotta dish sounded great and all the recipes were promising! I am on full liquids for a full two weeks post op... I will be taking a day or two to plan my first gourmet purée!

I'm eating baby food fruits, mashed potatoes and gravy, taco seasoned refried Beans, malt o meal, and yogurt so far. I honestly don't know how other people can purée food. I just can't eat puréed chili or Soups even, when I had jaw surgery a lot of people actually puréed McDonald's and other foods....sounds awful to me

I didn't puree a single thing through my pureed stage. However, I was allowed scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, and shredded tuna and chicken. Ask your nutritionist or surgeon if you are allowed any of those things. I tried tuna salad early, but it was too much, so I didn't try it again until later in my pureed stage, but I ate a lot of the Ricotta Bake mentioned above, cottage cheese, scrambled egg with melted cheese, and a slow-cooker Indian Chicken dish that my husband makes that results in very soft, shredded chicken. And two Protein Shakes a day, of course.

My puréed list has things on it like malt o meal, cream of wheat, yogurt, mashed potatoes, any meats are to be puréed/blended with broth/gravy and then eaten...so hard to even think of eating meats puréed...lol

I'm too picky

My puréed days start Tuesday. I am going to make white chili. I figured a quick pulse or two with the mini blender should be good and I will add banana to a Protein Shake. You guys are giving me some good ideas tol

I was told a suggestion instead of potatoes try mashed cauliflower with some garlic and chives. I'm gonna try it out tomorrow with a bit of meat. Just as test before my op on the 25th October.

Auntiemel, my guess is I too will mush but through the blender bit in to psych myself up! Refried Beans at midnight for me! Then, will truly purée some chicken or egg salad. I hope this is just a week for this phase. I need to be able to get used to the no drinking before and after eating and when all one has done is drink, I know this will be a challenge. I hope I remember how to hold a fork!!

I made taco Soup for my family the other night and put a bit in the blender. It might be the desperation talking but I almost liked the soup better puréed. It was like a glorified Tomato Soup. Put a bit of cheese and sour cream on it. SO YUMMY! ????

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
