alexsisv 139 Posted October 1, 2014 What's everyone averaging for calories these days? I'm 2 weeks post op and struggle to hit an average of 400. I'm able to 2 Premier shakes with 60 g Protein daily. I'm wondering if I should be concerned? I'm doing 2 miles of walking per day too. I don't feel tired or drained.
par1959 470 Posted October 1, 2014 At two weeks out you shouldn't worry about calories or Protein. Water should be your main concern. Per my Doc your body can handle a month without hitting the protein goals.
gregthegroove 130 Posted October 2, 2014 Two shakes are 320 calories by themselves. During puréed stage, you should be eating 400 easy. One Greek yogurt is 130 calories. What else are you eating? I'm 3 weeks out and I'm at about 500-600 cals per day.
JamieLogical 8,710 Posted October 2, 2014 I have been working hard to get my calories up, since I had to start exercising again. The nutritionist wanted me doing 60-90 minutes of "brisk walking" starting 3 weeks out and at that point I was lucky to be getting 600 calories a day. Now that I'm a month out and on soft foods, it's been WAY easier and I can consistently get about 850 calories per day. I think I'm pretty content sitting at 850 until I can increase my exercise intensity next month. I'm not supposed to increase my intensity above brisk walking until two moths post-op.
