Depression 2 Months Out

Recommended Posts

So I'm two months post op and over the last 5 weeks my energy level has dropped I have no desire to do anything. I'm sleeping a lot and just hang in front of TV for most of the day. No weird thoughts or anything just feel blah and unmotivated.

Red flag! You have put too much of yourself into this process. Good you recognize it, but, you have to act on this. Three legged stool... Physical, emotional, and psychological needs all have to be factored in and taken care of... Call the office in the morning! Good luck.

May need to have B12 checked I have read several posts describing the blahs and needed to have Vitamins adjusted.

Also check your thyroid. It is not part of regular bloodwork so you have to ask. For the first time in my life I have a thyroid problem after bypass and b12 had to be upped.

Hope you feel better soon!

Call your surgeon immediately!

It could be factored to several things but you want to take care of this right away.

This is not normal at all.

Good luck and take care of yourself.

Contacted my doctor today who performed my gastric bypass, he is sending me to a Psychiatrist that i had seen before surgery for the pre surgical stuff, so maybe he can help with what ever is going on because i can find no reason in myself for me to be depressed.

so i hope to go next week and i have support group next Thursday so maybe ill bring it up and see who else has gone threw this i have met 1 lady who did but haven't had the chance to sit and talk with her .

Brian, I looked also and could not find it... I did not make it up, I recall a silhouette of a person with his head in hands... Anyhow this is not the exact link but the date if publish makes me think there is a connection. I am glad you are going to see Dr. The article I saw was more related to post op depression setting in.. I will look again later!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
