Two years out, completely off track....

Recommended Posts

I love in Roseville MI. I had the sleeve in June of 2012...my weight has maintained at 160 pounds but I feel horrible! Always tired, not exercising enough, not motivated, eating everything I shouldn't be eating....looking for a buddy/support friend in my area....

I'm sorry you are stuggling. I think we all go through periods where we are simply not being healthy. For me, lack of motivation lasts weeks at times even months. My advice is not to rely on friends. I know it's a common strategy but ultimately, your weight loss is yours alone. My recombination is to start walking. Even if it's 15 minutes daily and increase steadily. As for food, quit cold turkey. Get all the junk out of the house. Sugar craves sugar. Once your on track and feel confident again have your treats.

That's frightening, to feel totally off track. We all know that it WILL catch up with us if we allow it. There is a reason we were obese, and for me, it's always lurking. Good for you that you are acknowledging it. It's the first step to turning things around. I agree, get rid of the things that are making your feel out of control. Change up your routine a little where old/bad habits are creeping in. I've found that I seem to want to settle into grazing in the evenings when I get home from work. If I just slightly change the routine, like take a walk, go shopping, or do housework, it prevents that. Find what it is that is causing your issue, and make a change n that area. You can do it!

great thing about life is that it always goes on and another day happens

i think we (all) get off course or get side tracked or even lapse somewhat back into

what (we) use to do..old habits? not exercising, eating more and eating less of the better for us type foods...yes it happens...

so what do we do..how do we handle this?

do we sit and cry and go woe is me....or say screw it and pig out or blame it on elvis..

what we do it start right now......eating better, small changes to take us back to where we are

back in control......drinking more liquids, moving (even if it is 5 min...as long as we are moving, it counts)

you are a success

you have this day

focus on doing the best you can today...we cant go backwards

but we can go forward...

hang in there

back to basics......eating clean, drinking and exercising

you need motivation....look at your before picture before surgery..

compared to the goddess you are now/today...

that should motivate you

When is the last time you've had a physical? Lab work? Something to think about. I know myself since losing a lot of a weight I have slacked on my lab work. Been about 8 months now since my last labs. I am cold and tired a lot lately myself so I wonder if I may be anemic. Time for labs :)

Not completely off track, because here you are! I think the self-honesty -- the awareness of what's happening -- is the biggest hurdle and you have conquered that already. Jim's suggestion on labs is excellent -- could be a reason you're tired and one thing can lead to the other. I am trying to strategize for winter. Have had a great summer of major outdoor exercise, etc., but boy am I noticing the sudden shift in light. I want to bring joy with me through these colder, darker months and not let myself get pulled under. My biggest fear right now is complacency, or slipping back into negative behavior like trying to eat away the anxiety or tamp down stress with food (note to self -- does not work, does not feel good, only makes it worse!). Good luck with all -- you are choosing YOU and your healthy future. Thanks for this reminder today.

Everyone is different, but for me, I give myself B-12 injections every other week. This keeps my motabilizm up and I just feel better all the way around.

And this, my friends, is why I joined! Thank you, for the advice, suggestions and positive words....I needed this! I made an apt to have my labs checked and I have gave myself a good pep talk, back to basics for me!

Your very welcome! That what were here for! Let's face it, us Bariatric types are a different breed. We all go through similar troubles I think. We should start a colony, Protein Shakes for all!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
