bulldog1973 88 Posted October 16, 2014 Dr. Fernando Garcia is the doctor you should use. Between me and a friend we have referred 10 people to him in the last 15 months, all have had wonderful success and no complications. My surgery was 07/03/13 and I have lost 124 pounds, 1 pound to go. He, his assistants, the nurses, and everyone associated with him were, and have been, wonderful. I recommend him to everyone. hollisrn76 21 Posted October 16, 2014 Question, Do you go to Mexico twice then. Once for a consultation and another for the surgery? Do they do any preop lab work? How does all of that work? How long does it take? TIA
MISSORLANDOPLUSAMERICA2011 11 Posted October 16, 2014 Morning! No Maam! You only go to Mexico ONCE. There are some things that you need to do here such as a low-no carb diet followed by liquids a day or two BEFORE your surgery. Once you get to Mexico they will do all your pre-op the day before your surgery including x-rays, tests, etc. Before you return home the Doctor will send you with EVERYTHING you will need in order to receive any follow-up care. Your stay will be for 5 nights 6 days in Mexico Question, Do you go to Mexico twice then. Once for a consultation and another for the surgery? Do they do any preop lab work? How does all of that work? How long does it take? TIA
hollisrn76 21 Posted October 16, 2014 thank you So how long does it usually take to get a surgery date?
MISSORLANDOPLUSAMERICA2011 11 Posted October 16, 2014 No Problem. You pick the day that works for you. If you ever need to change the day then you let them know and it goes from there. In all cases I am pretty sure there is like a 500.00 deposit to hold that day once you have the process. For example: I picked Dec. 9th back in August and I finally put my for that day in September. I was already on the list, but I made it official! thank you So how long does it usually take to get a surgery date?
KC VSG 46 Posted October 24, 2014 One thing to note before I forget...They didn't have bath towels at florence hospital..... Wasn't expecting that. I'm not sure if they just didn't have any or if it was just something they don't provide. So take a couple of face/ bath towels with you. I've heard this many times.... I wonder why that is?? Kimbella83 17 Posted October 25, 2014 I am going thru A Lighter Me with Dr Elias Ortiz and I want my post op instructions so I can prepare. Any idea when I can expect to receive that info? I am scheduled for second week of December. I was told by my patient coordinator that it will be sent to me a few weeks before surgery. I know its 6.5 weeks away but I would like to get familiar with it and plan. If anyone who used A Lighter Me would please weigh in. Thx

Ronab 23 Posted November 3, 2014 Does anyone know if Do. E. Ortiz does the "sewing" over the staples? I don't know what is called but I have read that this is an extra precaution to avoid leaking. I have scheduled surgery with him on December 11th.

I don't know what is called but I have read that this is an extra precaution to avoid leaking. I have scheduled surgery with him on December 11th. Ronab how did it go? Hope all is well. I'm guessing you're still in Mexico since your surgery was scheduled for 12/11. When you're up to it, pls let me know if Dr. Ortiz did the sewing over your staples. I'm curious about this is as well and I'm scheduled with him for 12/29.
