Season26 14 Posted September 30, 2014 Went for an ultrasound yesterday on my gallbladder. The dr. Office called today and said the doc wants to see me tomorrow. Guess that means I will be having my gallbladder removed. Seeing the doc tomorrow at 1pm.
*Lexie* 1,486 Posted September 30, 2014 Very easy surgery. I was dressed and leaving by about an hour post op. Much easier than the sleeve surgery.
amandall27 63 Posted October 1, 2014 Having mine out tomorrow lol. I'm 1 month post op. My Dr doesn't check before for gallstones. Sent from my SCH-M828C using Tapatalk

chasingpolaris321 214 Posted October 2, 2014 Mine's coming out on the 15th. Crossing my fingers for an easier recovery than the sleeve!
Season26 14 Posted October 2, 2014 With the constant nausea, feeling of indigestion and throwing up...I can't wait to have this surgery.
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted October 2, 2014 Yup. Been there. Had my first gallbladder attack 10 day post-WLS-op. Had it taken out 4 weeks post-WLS-op. Recovered easily within a week.
amandall27 63 Posted October 2, 2014 Had mine out yesterday. They had a very difficult time with it and I am in extreme pain. It is so much worse for me than the sleeve was. And I have a total of 10 healing incisions now. Hope yours is a much easier procedure. Sent from my SCH-M828C using Tapatalk
chasingpolaris321 214 Posted October 2, 2014 I'm so sorry to hear that your surgery was rough. I hope you have a speedy recovery!
Babbs 14,681 Posted October 2, 2014 Why aren't these doctors taking the gall bladder out with the WLS anymore? Seems so counter productive to have to have it out anyway after the fact! I'm glad I had mine out several years ago!
rdelly01 25 Posted October 2, 2014 I have gallstones, I haven't had a problem with them for over a year now ....I am expecting to have surgery in the next few months and I'm hoping my surgeon will remove my gallbladder at the time of surgery ....anyone have any experience on this for someone who already has gallbladder issues prior to surgery? BitterSweet* 835 Posted October 3, 2014 @@rdelly01, if it is known that you have gallstones already and your bariatric surgeon won't remove it with sleeve surgery, I would throw a full on tantrum about it. It's one thing if they don't know or don't check, but the presence of gallstones equals a diseased gallbladder that is not going to improve with time, and may actually cause an emergency. Those stones have an ability to travel, and if they migrate to the CBD (common bile duct), emergency surgery has to be done. Please advocate for yourself (not saying you haven't!) because this practice of omitting EGDs or not removing a known diseased organ while you are already being operated is just ridiculous. Good luck to you!
rdelly01 25 Posted October 3, 2014 Thank you! I'm meeting with my surgeon on Wednesday, I will definitely discuss this with him. I just wasn't sure what the common practice was. I don't see a point in leaving in the gallbladder if it's already diseased and I have no doubt in my mind I will have a problem with it as I start losing weight. That would mean an additional surgery, more incisions and recovery time.
amandall27 63 Posted October 4, 2014 Definitely talk to them. I most certainly had them before surgery as I'm only 5 weeks post op. Dr says surgery for the sleeve exacerbated my gall issues. Sent from my SCH-M828C using Tapatalk
