@@TeacherMommy I live in Altoona and work in Ankeny, it's great to have the opportunity to find people nearby to build a support system of people who can relate to what you are experiencing. I will be anxious to hear how you are doing on your journey.

I'm hanging in there. It hasnt been 1/2 as bad as I had prepared for. The worst part was the gas, but that passed after a couple days. Now I am just hungry. I go back tomorrow for my one week checkup to talk about nutrition. I'm anxious to start introducing new foods. I'm on day 21 without a "bite" to eat. Have you received your date yet??

@@TeacherMommy I'm so glad to hear you are doing well, I am sure it is very difficult to be on liquids that long, I would be cranky for sure! I go to module 3 tomorrow, then I will get submitted to insurance, so I really hope to have a date soon, it seems like I have been working towards this forever even though it has only been 6 months. I hope you get to progress to the next step soon!

Congrats! I was passed out for almost an entire day lol. When people were talking in my room I kept telling them to go away because I couldn't sleep with their yammering away.

I am 4 days post op and I actually wonder if we are "hungry". I don't think we are, if we eat some Soup, custard or yogurt that feeling goes away. So I think we will all be fine so long as we eat often and small amounts. Our heads are driving our hungry not our tummy's!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
