Any November Sleevers for 2014 need surgery buddys?

Recommended Posts

I most likely will have an early to mid November date. I have an EGD on Oct 15th and I need to have my psych eval then I'm good to go.

My date is 11/18......and I can't wait!!! Except for my pre-op diet (YUCK!) I start my pre-op on 11/4. My doctor requires the following food:

3 Protein shakes

1 high protein/low carb meal (lean cuisine)

1 cup fresh vegies

Oh and lots and lots of Water.

I am completely off caffeine and I quit smoking a month ago!! I am so ready for my new life

It's interesting to read things that different Dr's allow and for how long with the pre-op. Mine is 4 shakes a day, that's it. No food whatsoever and lots of Water. 64oz to be exact. It's supposed to be for exactly 3 weeks prior, but I'm doing a whole month. I'm 6 days in right now.

I was just given my surgery date...November 12th. I wasn't sure if I wanted to scream with delight or cry with fear. All kinds of emotion now that a date has been givin...seems "real" now!

I am officially on the books for 11/4! I have my pre-op visit on 10/27. I need to be down 18lbs by then so I'm basically doing a liquid diet (since Monday). I'm having 3 shakes, a Cocotein and then a can of tuna with Melba crackers for dinner. Plus getting in my 30 minutes of walking.

I got insurance approval today so that felt like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. This actually feels real now and I cannot wait!

My surgery was originally scheduled for Nov 3rd, my doc office called on this past Tuesday to reschedule. My surgery is now set for October 27th. YIKES!! My mom had to reschedule her flights in to be with me, my husband had to get his time off rescheduled and I had to make sure my work schedule was good to go. Now that that is all set I think I can handle this change. =)

I just got my date today--November 10. Looks like there will be quite a few of us on that day. I will have my EGD on October 30 and start pre-op diet on November 3. I am so excited to have some sleeve buddies!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
