roells7 3 Posted September 29, 2014 I hope to have my sleeve done in December and I need some suggestions. Looking back on your own journey, can you recommend the best way to prepare mentally and physically for mine? I want the best chance of success and am willing to do the work. BeagleLover 1,020 Posted September 30, 2014 Are you scheduled for NUT meetings over 3 or 6 months? Does you hospital or a nearby hospital hold support group meetings? I think they're your best bet. Good luck!
roells7 3 Posted September 30, 2014 I am self pay, so I have very few requirements. I'm going to look into support groups. Thanks!
Camarolegend 185 Posted October 1, 2014 I was pretty excited once I made the decision. There was nothing special I did to prep mentally for it. I believe there's enou info in these forums to help you know what to expect. No regrets!
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted October 1, 2014 Start practicing now with not drinking 30 minutes before or after a meal, take smaller bites, chew your food rediculously well, in between meals you should drink Water until your eyeballs float. Also, start weaning yourself off of carbonated beverages and beverages with caffein or calories. Switch out to more green veggies than starchy and cut back on fruit. That will give you a head start. dashofsunshine 875 Posted October 11, 2014 I am pre-op as well, but every single person I have spoken to has stressed the group therapy meetings and meeting with the hospital psychiatrist afterwards. They have all said it makes a HUGE difference because this journey, for most of us, is going to be a lot mental as well as physical. Good luck!!!
