Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters

I am so sorry this happened to you. You must feel so cheated and angry. If you're like me, I could never have done this without insurance coverage. Sometimes it takes an extra hoop to jump through. I was approved very quickly but DW was denied at first. Both met all requirements...same insurance company...and policy....she's on my insurance. Talk to your insurance coordinator again and see if maybe a big dramatic letter about wanting your life and health back for the sake of you family and to become a more productive member of society would help. That's what did it for DW. Good luck, keep your chin up....don't let the bastards get you down. I'll be thinking of you

A cross post as per Eddie's request:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was just eating some scrambled eggs at work, at my desk, and the texture was off, too hard, so with out thinking I spit it back on to my plate.
I didn’t even think someone might be looking. The second the food hit the plate I look up with a line of spit from my lip still attached to the yucky little pile, just to catch a co-workers’ eye.
Nice.
That’s right, I might be getting all sexy-fine as another co-worker calls me. But that, that was really hot. I'm so proud.
Hi everyone!
I hope you are all well. I haven't really been on LBT recently -- life has been crazy busy, but I wanted to check in and say hi.
Trisha, I am so sorry to hear about your denial. But I promise you, where there is a will, there is a way. My insurance wouldn't cover my surgery and I never thought in a million years that I would be able to afford it/get a loan. But things worked out and I was able to have the surgery. Yes, it was self pay, and yes, I am paying off a loan for the next 5 years, but it was 100% worth it. Do not let this get you down. Look at this as an opportunity to fight for what you need and want. You will make it happen.
Stevee, OMG OMG OMG, I cannot believe that your surgery is in 3 days!!!!! I'm so excited for you!
Hi everyone!
Trisha, I am so sorry to hear about your denial. But I promise you, where there is a will, there is a way.
Thanks Lucy. I am not even close to giving up. I am more mad than anything. When someone pisses me off, they just make me more determined. I am 'thinking it into being'. Thanks for all the support!
Lucy keep in mind you might get most of it back from your taxes this year depending on your Adjusted Gross Income and the 7.5% on medical expenses.
This was on my Marchies thread.
I suck at this weight loss thing. I've only lost 40lbs in 6 months. Gay. Granted, I may have gained a bit of muscle, but not THAT much. Again, gayArg.
This is what I posted:
"I'm gay and I'm losing weight pretty well."
Snotty?
      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
