Lap_Band_Evelyn 34 Posted September 29, 2014 I had my six month check up today and I am down 26 pounds total. I know I shouldn't compare my story to anyone else but I just feel like 26 pounds is so low. The nurse says everything is ok. I have a lot to be proud of - 26 pounds of fat gone is a great start and I feel much better than I did six months ago. I see others losing at a much faster rate than me and I am trying to remain positive. Is anyone else losing the weight this slowly?
gbb77901 113 Posted September 29, 2014 I'm so glad you wrote this. I am a sloooow loser as well. I've lost about 15 pounds in 7 weeks? Seems awfully slow to me. I'm trying to be patient and tell myself that I'm learning new habits that will last a lifetime, but I also want to lose the weight faster. oh well... Cindysmom (Ilene) 130 Posted September 29, 2014 I lost 86 lbs in 15 months. I thought that I was a slow loser also. I think both of you gals are doing fantastic. Think about this. What is the race anyhow. Congrats to both of you.
Bandista 7,466 Posted September 29, 2014 When it is slow sometimes I think about how much I would have gained if I hadn't done this. I was packing it on bit by bit, slow but steady gain gain gain. And of course there's all the benefit of not having loose skin from rapid loss. I'm finding exercise to be a big factor in my health and happiness -- more so than the scale which can be pokey. Jeans size ten, OMG. But I'm still hovering around 190. (I record lowest number, which so far is 187.).
ChelleChi1969 69 Posted September 29, 2014 Congratulations!! If there's one thing I'm learning since joining this support group -- it's not to compare yourself to anyone else. I'm guilty of it myself so I understand how you feel! How wonderful that you've dropped the weight & are focused. Wishing you all the best & continued success!! 2muchfun 8,927 Posted September 29, 2014 I think I had only lost about 30 lbs after 6 months so sounds good to me. You don't say anything about fills, green zone, what you eat or exercise? If your band isn't adjusted properly you'll probably eat more than you should? Or, if it's too tight, you'll eat slider foods which can be higher in calories? Post more information and maybe we can help you out?
friendly5 56 Posted September 30, 2014 I to find myself comparing my weight loss to other... I have to realize everybody's journey is different. The main thing is we are ALL getting healthier....
blacktxbelle 99 Posted September 30, 2014 (edited) Congrats on the 26 lb lose. I think you are doing fantastic. I too would love it if the weight would just melt off but I have come to accept that steadier loses may mean keeping it off. It took us all a little while to gain the weight so we should be fair to our bodies and be patient as we teach ourselves new more successful habits and watch the weight drop off as we go. 2muchfun has a point, how are you doing with satiety? Are you exercising consistently? How often do you find yourself eating? How much are you eating? I have found that I am having to play with my routine a little to find out what works for me. Remember results aren't the same, your body's reaction to movement, food, etc are also not the same. PLEASE, PLEASE be very proud of yourself though! Keep your head up and enjoy your new life. Lap_Band_Evelyn 34 Posted September 30, 2014 Thanks for all of the kind words. I have been trying to be good and eat what I should. I just purchased a new pair of tennis shoes and am starting to walk on my lunch break.

There's a couple of bariatricpal support groups you can attend and get some support and/or advice. The group I meet with is in Broomfield and we meet on the 6th of October if you're interested? tmf
