Hi, I have to go to asheville nc on wed, my mother is very sick suddenly. this will be my first big trip post sleeve and I have never lived in asheville. I am 4+ months out of gastric sleeve surgery. can you give me any advice where to get premier Protein shakes and safe places to eat out? I will have a car but will be hanging out with family that likes to eat out. right now she is at mission memorial hospital but will be transferred to rehab/nursing home soon. is there a target store in asheville?a trader joes ?good thrift store?old navy? also I remember vaguely a great crafts store, something with a dragon logo, something earth something in the name. I am a quilter/craftsperson/nurse. decent cheap motel or b+b? she will probably have a long recovery if she recovers at all, but this trip is just for 9 days. thanks for any suggestions.I am usually in oakland ca. love sara

costco has Premier Protein Shakes. You may also want to check out Wal-Mart.

There's a good health food store in Asheville and I'm sure they have single pack Protein powders if you want to try something. Or just a healthy salad bar that will have good options for healthy foods to choose from. Our coop here is expensive but I have so little that it works out. Have a safe trip -- so sorry about your Mom. Sending best wishes. And don't forget that you have to take are if YOU, too. Sometimes it's hard to choose ourselves first but that's the healthy thing to do. Like the oxygen mask first on you then the one you're with. If you need a beautiful place to walk around there are many to choose from there.

There is LOTS and LOTS of things in Asheville. Go to builtmore house if you have time. You will do just fine. Keep your head in it!

The botanical gardens in Asheville is phenomenal if you get the chance. If you have a time crunch the Biltmore is a must.

Sorry I don't know of any hotels there that would be inexpensive.

There is a Trader Joes downtown. The Asheville Mall on tunnel road has old navy and a GNC. I'm pretty sure there is a vitamine shoppe too. One of my new fave places to eat is Moe's bbq near builtmore, not to be confused with Moe's cantina. Good luck, Asheville is a fairly large city so you should be able to find everything you need.

There are tons of things to do. The Orange Peel is great if there is a show you wanna see, go to Chimney Rock if you have time, it's about 45 mins out of the city. Builtmore is good, but expensive. Even just walking around downtown is fun.

Good luck Sara

Sorry for the reason. Health food stores. GNC Vitamin? Even grocery or longs, cvs have some options. I Bring Protein Bars when I travel. My band gets a little testy with flying but calms down...hoping you have fridge for yogurt or something that you can get there

Keep us posted and blessings

Asheville is a really cool town! Lots of things to do, pretty area, artsy (if you're into that) and there's always the Biltmore. I live a little over an hour from there and get there as often as I can. Hope your trip went well!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
