Today I ran my first organized 5K! The Color Run DC. I ran the whole thing keeping my normal pace of 11:15-11:30. There was a huge hill too! I'm so proud of myself. This is definitely the first of many!

That's awesome!!! Congratulations. How did you learn how to run? I'm just at the beginning stages of trying. You are a great inspiration.

Thanks esskay! I've always liked running, but to get myself back into it, I would run for 1 min walk for 5 mins. Then I would just gradually increase my time. Im up to running 4 miles now. To me it's about distance and not speed.

@@esskay77 there are great interval training apps for running. I personally like the "couch to 5k" program (that app is 5k runner). It starts slow with minimal run and more walking. Each week it gradually ramps up. I have always been overweight so "running" has been impossible for me thus far, but I would use it for light/slow jogging. If a week was too hard, I would repeat weeks until I was better.

Even my shuffle jogging hurts a little too much right now, but I'm really looking forward to a color run myself! You're an inspiration!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
