Wow!as I look in my contact list not 1 person has called me sense my surgery (not family ,but friends).A co worker who recently had bypass years ago told me my so called friends will drop off like the weight. She said they will no longer understand your mission .I was in disbelief, but it was true.I have no friends. Its for the best.. I dont need jealous people in my circle..

Try not to dwell on that just yet. Think of your recovery first. They may be just want waiting a few days before contacting you, thinking you may need the rest (I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt).

Plus, you are going to make many new friends on line and in person. I have found I've become more out going as the weight comes off and am meeting people I have far more in common with now!

Wishing you great success in your journey and many new friends to boot!

Cut your friends some slack. It is a weird topic, a drastic lifestyle change... My friends have not contacted me either. They are still amazing friends. They don't need to hear about my sore belly, gas problems, or how bored I am!! You continue to take care of yourself. If some people are envious, uncomfortable, or angry that you have had this surgery, that can work itself out, depending on how you approach them. It is a big change. Don't write them off just yet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
