I know what you mean kimberly...I'm in the same boat. It is VERY difficult to stay on just that + tofu. I am dying for a salad...something ALIVE!

Hang in there! We will persevere!

NUT is too strict.

@@kimberly1184

sorry bud

i don't think your NUT is too strict at all ^_^

i've heard some people being on full liquids, Clear Liquids for up to 3 weeks or more

you can do this

you'll have many more hurdles to jump over

those long legs for jumping are good too,

you will be successful :)

I see the determination/attitude you have :)

good luck

kathy

I know what you mean, I'm on puree'd Soups, greek yogurt (which I don't care for), Protein shakes. I want to chew! I did cheat and make a soft scrambled egg with some low-fat cheese. Not the best of moves, I didn't throw them up, but they felt like they were stuck in the back of my throat for the rest of the day. Same with trying refried Beans, even though I thinned them down a bit. One thing that has helped on the Protein side is the unjury brand has both a chicken flavored Protein powder, and a unflavored Protein Powder. chicken one tastes like Soup, and with the unfavored I can add it to most anything, like V-8 juice, XXX zero Water, real juices, even coffee products. Check them out.

I think everyone's surgeon follows slightly different rules on how long to be at which stage, make sure and check with them when wanting to move on. The main reason for the early stages, is to reduce the chance of "leaks" in your new tummy. Just think of what a downer that would be :0(.

Don't forget you still get everything from the eariler stages, like sugar free pudding & Jello, etc.

I was on puréed food for 3 weeks before I was allowed even a soft egg it was awful truly though it gets easier though it just takes time I am almost 6 months out and I still get frustrated at what I can't eat and the volume is so small it so tykes makes me cry ... But you will get there :)

I was on liquids the day of surgery and the day after, I'm on the 1st week of liquid/protein drinks and to be honest I have a really hard time with protein!

I am eating plain fage greek yogurt with Torani Syrup added for flavor. I'm drinking tons of herbal Decaf teas, Water, and still eating Jello and pudding. It is hard!

I'm starting the next phase on Wednesday and that is mush/puréed food. I just stocked up on baby food.< /p>

@auntiemel-

I know what you mean! The 2 week liquid Protein phase can be difficult...I am at week 3 and on cottage cheese, yogurt and tofu(STILL trying to find a recipe to make it taste good!)

Just remember what your goal is. I have taped a picture of a thin girls body on my mirror to remind me wy I need to stick on program...

Hang in there. This too shall pass and change is on the way. Try and stay busy so not to think about it. i lime to drink the Isopure 40 gm Protein drinks...they have a lot of flavor and aren't thick.

Good luck!

I know what you mean about what will and won't go down and the volume... Some people have stopped inviting me over to eat because I've had surgery and can only eat a little. This hurts...I still want to be sociable even if I eat very little it is nice to be invited

'Then again maybe I am being too self centered... I don't know.

This too shall pass.

To Kimberly1184: A NUT that strict may be trying to keep you from indulging in mashed potatoes or oatmeal or other starchy stuff. Hang in there. You will be on regular foods in no time.

To Jlnrgn: Shame on folks who can't have you over just to enjoy your company. They are small-minded to not accomodate you. While everone else is eating roast beef, you could be sipping on broth. They haven't heard of steamed veggies? When they are eating strawberry shortcake, you could nibble a couple of berries in Greek yogurt. Well, instead of waiting for an invitation, throw a festive soire yourself where you can control what you eat. Oh, by the way, don't invite them. After all, if they can't eat steamed veggies, softly roasted meat (or its broth) or fresh berries, they shouldn't come anyway.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
