I had surgery Sept 15, 2014. I'm down 20 lbs but everytime i eat Protein anything it makes my stomach gurgle and gurgle up my throat so loud everyone can hear it. Is that normal? Plus, i am exhausted i literally sleep all day today. I walked the mall yesterday for about 2 hours but really I'm exhausted. Does it get better?

You have to realize you are less than 2 weeks out from a MAJOR surgery. You have to be patient and give yourself time to heal. Would you expect to be playing basketball 2 weeks after a knee replacement? You can't expect your stomach to be "performing" normally quite yet.

As for the exhaustion, you are operating on very few calories which means less energy. I actually found I was a lot less tired once I started adding carbs (blended peaches, mangos, bananas, etc ) in my Protein shakes. Using milk instead of Water to mix my shakes also helped because dairy has a decent amount of carbs. I have never treated carbs or fat as the "enemy". A well balanced postop diet has worked great for me.

And yes, of course it gets better.

The hardest thing the first month is proper hydration. Even mild dehydration can make you feel like death warmed over. Sip sIP sip...and patience. :)

Did your surgeon prescribe Vitamins? You might be low somewhere (B12 or iron). I was sent with instructions to take extra of both of those in addition to 2 Multivitamins per day and extra Calcium. Tired for the first month is NORMAL, but if it persists, check with your team. Also, don't be afraid of food! You need Protein AND a few carbs to recover, especially if you're active! Record all of it and keep your macros where your team recommended.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
