1 month post-op and surgery again!

Recommended Posts

So I am scheduled to have gallbladder removal on Oct 1st...still healing from my sleeve. Dr and nurses were astonished that I'm having trouble with my gallbladder lol. Anyone else have surgery so soon after their sleeve? Just out of curiosity.

My surgeon puts everyone who still has their gall bladder on a medication (ursodial) to avoid problems with sudden weightloss & gall bladders. I haven't had any problems hope everything goes well with ur surgery...

This same thing is happening to me! I had sleeve surgery on 8/12 and was in the ER with gallstones this past week. I am scheduled to have mine out on Oct 15th. I can't believe I'm headed back to surgery so soon!

let me please ask where was the pain located and how did it feel because I keep getting a nagging pain on my left back side. My sleeve doctor said to take Tylenol for it

I'm not an expert but I believe that gallstones generally cause pain on the right side. My pain was below my ribcage and down the mid section of my right side. It was sort of a burning stabbing pain that comes and goes. Has your doctor mentioned kidney stones to you? That seems more likely than gallstones because kidney pain is usually on your back, either right or left side. Or it could just be a muscle strain. It's best to follow up with your doc if it continues :-)

Gallstones can cause referred pain to back between shoulder blades or either shoulder blade itself. I had my out when they did the RNY.

I had severe pains in my lower stomach. It would not be all of the time. It mainly came on in the middle of the night. It didnt make sense to me but thats what happened. It was SO painful, like crying painful. I ended up having emergency surgery. Good luck getting it out. Surgery was a breeze.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
