gigim 8 Posted September 26, 2014 I'm a 2008 bander.. I'm having some pretty bad back issues/pain, and my Doctor(back Specialist) advised me to take Prednisone for 1 week to help with relieve of the inflammation in my low back.. Now I know we banders can not do anti-inflammatory meds. Which the jury is still out on if steroids are somewhat like anti- inflammatory meds.....Called my lapband Doctor and he said it was ok!!! Well, I would like to hear from real bander folks!!! and if anyone has used steroids for a short period of time and if had any problems... Thanks!!!! My other option is therapy and tramadol for pain.. Of course this method will take longer time for my back to heal..... Help!!!
gowalking 10,790 Posted September 27, 2014 Been there, done that, got the tee shirt. What would you like to know? I've been on anti-inflammatories before and after banding. I've taken steroid shots for pain and inflammation...all post banding. I've been on Tramadol and a myriad of other pain meds and anti-inflammatories. I've not had any issues with the band while on (and still on mind you) NSAIDS/pain meds. Now...I will tell you that I have no fills and maybe that's a factor but I needed those treatments and went ahead with them. It comes down to one thing. Does the benefit outweigh the risk? For me, it did.
gigim 8 Posted September 27, 2014 Gowalking/ I have not had a fill in over a year now. I still have Fluid in my band... I just wanted to make sure that any treatment I need would not hurt my band... Thanks for your help!!! I started my steroid treatment today 60 mg for for 1 week... Just a little worried:(
gowalking 10,790 Posted September 27, 2014 I would say for you to just monitor how you are feeling and if something seems off, call your doctor. Wishing you well.
