Well, my name is Vickie and I had the Bariatric Sleeve on 9/8/14. Everything went well and 17 days later, I feel like a new person. The small meals are unbelievable, but everything is tasty. It's like I never tasted food before. I have lost 22 lbs. Or more. I love my doctor and her staff. I don't know what to expect, but I'm looking forward to my new goal weight of 170 lbs. if not more. <3. :)

Thanks for the update from September. May I ask how much you have lost thus far? I lost 19 pounds in the 12 day liquid pre-op and total since surgery on September 2 have lost another 29 pound for a total of 48 pounds. I can't do the Protein Drinks so now on mushy food until 8 weeks out so. I am only getting around 320 calories but now up to about 39g Protein. I think loss is good but worries about the protein and calorie intake.

Yay, Alfie. I'm so excited for you. It's much easier than I thought. But you have to take care of yourself, stay hydrated and eat 3 meals & Snacks. Good Luck.

Thank you Vicky. My appointment for evaluations is tomorrow; very excited. Glad you're doing so good!!

TY Alfie. I thought of cancelling minutely and just sort of let the Universe guide. I just can't believe how good I'm doing. But, you suddenly realize you just had surgery 3.5 weeks ago and need to take it easy. I can honestly tell you that it's the best decision you ever made. My clothes used to be so tight. Now, they r comfortable and loose. Keep me posted as we have connected and I want to know how you're doing. Nice to meet you. The most important thing is that you eat enough Protein. Never ever thought about it before. You will be Enlightened by this experience.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
