Rovobay 920 Posted September 26, 2014 it took me 7 days until i had a BM. I don't remember about gas. All in due time. from all that I have read, this it totally normal. you can't have Protein for 2 weeks? wow, haven't heard of that yet.
Sleevarilla 169 Posted September 26, 2014 Clear liquid does not mean no Protein. Think Isopure Zero Carb drinks. I did not pass gas until at least a day and a half post-op. No BM for several days.
Zoey716 98 Posted September 26, 2014 My doc didn't want me worrying about Protein right after surgery. He was more concerned about Fluid intake. I went home on Clear liquids and super soft foods (cream of wheat, yogurt, Soup etc). At my 2 week post op appointment is when they started stressing increasing my Protein. I didn't have much trouble with gas (try GasX - I heard that helps a lot of WLS patients), but I did not have a BM for quite a few days after surgery. I started adding Benefiber to drinks and broth to help - and it did! If you are concerned with anything post op - call your doc! That's what they are there for!! Hope you get some relief soon! JamieLogical 8,710 Posted September 26, 2014 I had surgery on a Monday and didn't have a BM until Saturday. Seriously, when all you are doing is drinking, what would you have to pass? It wasn't until I was able to start on full liquids that anything needed to happen in that department. I have had very consistent BMs since then. I am almost 4 weeks out and go every day, sometimes missing one day, but not often.
Debi Amador 120 Posted September 26, 2014 @@1Sleevecomingup Remember you have nothing in your system to pass. You won't have a BM for days, and me now 6 months later I only have BM every few days, my calorie intake is to low for daily. Don't worry, you are doing fine. sbeltermann 20 Posted September 26, 2014 Agree. Had surgery on Monday and bm was on wed. My nutritionist said I could use Smooth Move tea if I needed help. Check with your nutritionist if that would be ok. Or even Decaf tea should help.
