Mine was three weeks ago. Everyone I have talked to had one study and then got a machine. There's something not right here

Yes, it was a two part. First was to diagnose then the second was to determine the settings the dr. Recommened were ok and to try out the different masks.

The second sleep study is for mask fitting and level setting. I had the same thing :-). Best sleep ever with the cpap!

hmmm, I got the impression they won't have a machine. I'll have to call and double cheek.

Thanks, everyone for the responses!

They have machines they keep at the sleep center to determine your level...you then get a new machine a few days after the prescription for it is made...it will come to you with the levels set, and with the mask sized to what the doc says was best for you during the second study.

I did a home sleep study & then went to the clinic for another. The First was to diagnose and the second is to determine the pressure setting. One of the previous posters mentioned the same thing

sounds like the 2nd one is a fit test and optimizing the best solution for you!

do they wire you all up again?

They do wire you, but to a lesser extent. The focus, for me at least was the mask. I had done some research and went in knowing which mask I wanted to try.

Yes after the first one and if diagnosed with apnea the second one is for titration. This is where they fit you for a mask and test the flow levels while you sleep. Once done they will get you setup with a machine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
