Glammie Grammie 7 Posted September 26, 2014 Because my sleep study was two years ago and I never purchased the machine. They say I need a new prescription for it I was bummed cause now I have to go back to psychologist in 4 weeks.
Bruce Peter 39 Posted September 26, 2014 Mine was three weeks ago. Everyone I have talked to had one study and then got a machine. There's something not right here
Vsglady 142 Posted September 26, 2014 Yes, it was a two part. First was to diagnose then the second was to determine the settings the dr. Recommened were ok and to try out the different masks.
Vsglady 142 Posted September 26, 2014 Forgot to add...these studies were about a week apart.
Junebug36 154 Posted September 26, 2014 The second sleep study is for mask fitting and level setting. I had the same thing :-). Best sleep ever with the cpap!
Bruce Peter 39 Posted September 26, 2014 hmmm, I got the impression they won't have a machine. I'll have to call and double cheek. Thanks, everyone for the responses!
Junebug36 154 Posted September 26, 2014 They have machines they keep at the sleep center to determine your level...you then get a new machine a few days after the prescription for it is made...it will come to you with the levels set, and with the mask sized to what the doc says was best for you during the second study. Kathy812 794 Posted September 26, 2014 I did a home sleep study & then went to the clinic for another. The First was to diagnose and the second is to determine the pressure setting. One of the previous posters mentioned the same thing
Rovobay 920 Posted September 26, 2014 sounds like the 2nd one is a fit test and optimizing the best solution for you!
Bruce Peter 39 Posted September 26, 2014 do they wire you all up again?
Vsglady 142 Posted September 26, 2014 They do wire you, but to a lesser extent. The focus, for me at least was the mask. I had done some research and went in knowing which mask I wanted to try.
nprcowboy 533 Posted September 26, 2014 Yes after the first one and if diagnosed with apnea the second one is for titration. This is where they fit you for a mask and test the flow levels while you sleep. Once done they will get you setup with a machine.
