Pschyological evaluation

Recommended Posts

It was much easier than I expected. Basically my doctor answered his own questions and I agreed with him, lol. He'd say, "why do you want this surgery....for health reasons?" And I'd say "yes."

Just be honest. I think they just want to make sure you know what you are getting into, and that you are not expecting one procedure to magically fix every single problem in your life. They'll ask a bit about if you have a support system in place. It's really not that scary. Good luck!

My psychologist evaluation was about 40 minutes long. I first had this 50 questionnaire that I needed to do. Then, the psychologist called me in his office, and he asked me several things like, do I believe in God, do I gamble, have I ever been arrested, any drug addiction, any DUIs, how's my relationship with my family, who am I closest to, etc etc.

Why would they ask if you believe in god ? That's bizarre ! Maybe it's to see if you're deluded !?! Thankfully no psychological evaluation needed for me in Australia.

My evaluation in 2014 was abt 30 min? The questions were abt my family, friends, God, suicide, fears and deaths and how i felt abt certain things...in 2005 my evaluation was just a 100 questions questionairre abt being obese, how i viewed obese people, how i felt abt food, suicidal thoughts, how i viewed smaller people

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
