I'm post op 4 weeks. I've lost 23 pounds since surgery. Over the last week and a half my stomach has grown more and more sensitive. There are very few things that I can eat without throwing up. I'm basically back on full liquids and even then, I throw up. Today I was only able to keep down 2 oz of cream Soup and 1 oz of yogurt. I'm also having trouble taking my Vitamins. I'm taking Zofran for nausea but it only helps a little.

I've called the doctor's office twice and the nurse says that this is normal, but I'm not sure it is.

This morning, I had to pull over three times during my commute to work and all I had consumed was a few sips of Water.

Thoughts?

Here's a thought. That nurse is an IDIOT!! This is not normal. Insist on talking to the doctor!!! I'm sorry the nurse is not taking you more seriously or being more sympathtic. This is not right!

Definitely go see your doctor! The same thing happened to me, and I ended up hospitalized two weeks post op for nausea/dehydration. I am 6 weeks post op as of Tuesday and am still on IV nutrition at home. Come to find out I had a nasty stricture and an ulcer... Please see your doc so he can rule out anything serious! :)

I worry about dehydration. You may need IV fluids. Go to ER if needed!

So sorry to hear you're feeling bad. It sounds like the beginning of Protein deficiency and dehydration. The Protein deficiency can happen fast and is very trying to recover from when you get to the point of not being able to hold anything down.

I highly recommend you go to the ER tonight and not wait for an appointment. You definitely need IV fluids. I hope you feel better! Hugs.

Thanks! Just saw the doctor today. He suspects a stricture. I'll be having an endoscopy next week. Hopefully that will help. Has anyone had one? What should I expect?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
