burning pain in stomach after drinking cold apple juice

Recommended Posts

I drank about 4 oz of cold apple juice the other morning. I drank it slow. After I finished about 3 minutes later I had a horrible burning feeling all in my stomach. Then it happened again a few days later when I ate 3 oz of steak. I had to throw up to get rid of the feeling. This has never happened to me before, has this happened to anyone else? Today marks 2 years and 70 lbs!

So you have had cold apple juice before, in the last two years, and no problem? Same as for having steak, with no problem?

Of course I'm no sleeve expert here, but if these are the only two things that are causing you an issue, maybe tummy decided it no longer wants to tolerate them. if you did a test and other cold liquids or meats are also an issue, maybe there is a problem. But knowing me, I would put a call into my surgeon and touch base. Just to be on the safe side.

I sure hope that my tummy doesn't reject those....2 of my favorites! My desire for food and taste is very low...I just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem before I call the dr.... I kinda want to wait to see if it happens again....

Apple juice is more acidic than orange juice. Now that you are sleeved you can't tolerate it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
