Drinking after sleeve

Recommended Posts

Do most of you find that drinking has no restriction? I sipped a cup of tea and felt like it went down no problem. I just wish the gas pains would go away.

You will notice the most restriction when moving onto solid foods, especially Protein.< /p>

i had no restriction with Water - i could drink easily too :)

liquids do not give any restriction

great you don't have any problems drinking :)

its very important now and always to drink, drink and drink some more

for your early stage you should be sipping vvvvery slowly

as you progress your daily intake should be at least 64 oz

the more you drink the better :)

once you start soft foods - then solids regular foods - you will feel that great restriction :)

at 3 days PO, many people still suffer with gas :(

walk as much as you can around the house

this will help get rid of the nasty gas feeling

good luck

continued speedy recvovery :)

I had trouble in the first week or two with the immediately gurgling/gas sensation and some esophageal constriction after every single sip I took. I can still get that now if I drink too much too fast, but I get it much more with food now than I do with liquid.< /p>

I'm a year out and I can take a few good glugs of Water at a time, but that's about it. Not chugging liquids was a painful lesson to learn after surgery because I used to drink bottles and bottles of Water when I worked out.

Gosh I feel restricted just trying to drink water!! I've probably gotten 16oz in so far today!! 4 oz diluted juice and the rest just Water. I'm 2 days post op. Maybe I'll try warm tea. Even In the hospital I only got a few teaspoons of liquid in and had to stop.

I'm drinking warm tea, Water, and making Protein Shake smoothies that are like frosty consistency. I added PB2 to my chocolate Protein shake...it was pretty good. I just want to eat real food soon. Even mush stuff would be nice lol...but I will continue to follow my docs plan as I don't want to hurt my sleeve ????

No restriction with fluids for me whatsoever. I can drink anything in any quantity, including right up to eating, been the same since I woke up after surgery ! I haven't tried to drink whilst eating or too soon after because I feel too full to try, I normally drink about and hour and a half to two hours after eating :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
