Weightloss goals and rewarding your accomplishments?

Recommended Posts

As we embark on a new lifestyle, what kinds of goals has everyone put in place? How do you plan on celebrating the accomplishment of those goals?

I'm trying to come up with ways to reward myself when reaching my goals for 50 lbs, 75 lbs, 100 lbs, and total Weightloss goals reached.

I wanna hear from everyone! Lol. :-)

Ziplining was one thing... I hit goal 2 months ago and I'm scheduled on Saturday for the zip tour!

Skydiving may be the next! I decided to shed an extra 10, so once that's off I'll be scheduling that jump!

I didn't really go mini-goals, just looking and feeling great and the new wardrobe was reward enough!

I rewarded myself with plastic surgery when I was within the 15% of goal that they reccomend you be before plastics. When I hit 137, which is 100 pounds, I would like to Celebrate, as well as when I hit 129, my final goal. I went skydiving when I was younger, however now I've thought about taking the class where you don't have to jump tandem. I also want to go kite surfing, which is something I never would have done when I was fat because I figured the instructor would laugh at me! Oh and I reward myself regularly with clothing, haha....it is SO much more fun to shop when you fit into most of the stuff you try on!

Great thread - I'm getting close to 'one-derland' and haven't decided on anything yet. It's a major important goal for me though, and I want to honor it somehow.

I'm not up for a tattoo (though many of them are really beautiful and meaningful, as Kathy's are) and I'm not a heights person, so skydiving, hot air balloon ride and hang gliding (big in my town) are all out. As some say above the new clothes thing is nice -- but kind of a necessity these days!

I'm thinking maybe a manicure, pedicure, AND a relaxing massage... total spa experience. :-)

I've done mani/pedi, clothes, new yoga mat, new running shoes, jewelry, and gonna do a tattoo at the end also!

Great ideas all - but I love the 'think big!' approach of nana27! I've done a pedi a couple times to reward myself with a non-food treat after losing a chunk of weight, and considered a new purse - a nice one - but then realize i don't need one and I actually like the one i'm using from two years ago. I get a massage about four times a year as my work practically demands it. SO - It might have to be a small piece of jewelry or a spa experience. A trip or cruise is still a bit out of reach financially unfortunately. I'll keep thinking and reading all of your great ideas. Thanks!

I should set some marks and rewards for reaching those goals. probably just buy clothes that fit. I am so pumped. I can't wait to get rid of all those large clothes!!!

At 25 lbs lost (my docs pre- surgery requirement), I plan on spoiling myself with a new purse. 6.5 lbs to go!!

Once I hit onderland, I plan to buy myself a road bike (i have a cross bike right now).

At goal I plan on plastics (depending what their requirements are), or sky diving with mother-in-law.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
