@@zoeiyla hi there, I was banded November 5th last year -- so incredibly happy with my life now! And I definitely recall the excitement and nervousness leading up to the big day. I had never been an overnight patient in a hospital before and I'm 53. It was all so much easier than I thought it would be. I am a person who hates to go to the dentist even just to get a checkup. I'd rather have laparoscopic surgery than a dental procedure anytime. For me the recovery was not bad but you will definitely not wanting to be lifting a six-month old as you'll have stitches inside and the abdomen is tender those first few days. I found walking really helped with everything. If somebody can get her in and out if the carriage you may have your new favorite walking partner. Check in with your surgeon on how long before lifting is recommended. Hard to put yourself first with a baby but you'll need to baby yourself for a few days. What nice timing for you to be having your surgery post-partum. I wish I had done that -- mine is 19 now! Good luck with all -- glad you're here.

@@zoeiyla congrats!!! I have a very good friend who had her surgery much the way you are not long after the birth of her child and she has had an amazing recover and is doing so well!

You will want to do what @@Bandista suggested and baby yourself for a few days. Have someone give you a hand and definitely check with the surgeon for any restrictions and advice. When you are ready to start picking the baby up again just try to use more of your leg and arm muscles then your back and stomach muscles you don't want to pull anything and internal stitching takes a little time to heal.

Best of luck to you and let us know how you are doing!! This is a great site with loads of supportive people I'm sure you'll get lots of advice and answers to any questions you might have.

I also have a 6 (almost 7) month old and have the same concerns. I'm also still nursing my son and I'm scared my milk is going to dry up with the lack of eating. I'm so sad about it because I wanted to breastfeed for atleast a year but I keep telling myself that I made it this far which is a lot further than I ever thought I would and that surgery is definitely for the better.

Good luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
