OnePhatWhoDat 54 Posted September 25, 2014 Paperwork sent in to insurance on August 27. BCBS-Federal approved me officially on 9/2. I received an email from BCBS Federal on 9/4 about the approval. I was notified by my surgeon's office on 9/9. Good luck to you!

ChelleChi1969 69 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) PSRS520 -- waiting is both exciting & difficult! BCBS approved me in 5 days. Best of luck on your journey & be on the lookout for a thin white envelope -- that will be your approval letter. ???? Call your doctor's office to let them know you were approved -- if you don't hear from them first. This will speed up your surgery date. PSRS520 75 Posted September 27, 2014 Require an EGD***
ChelleChi1969 69 Posted September 27, 2014 Hi! I did not need an EGD for approval. That said, each plan operates differently so it could very well be a requirement in your state.
OnePhatWhoDat 54 Posted September 27, 2014 An EGD is not needed for approval. I had mine on 9/22, weeks after I was approved. If your surgeon does not require one - run!
