Yay Alex! Looking good Brooklyn! Christie looked way bigger than 350 tho. I think they're not being truthful about his starting weight.

Alex, I'm glad you were featured. But the article would have been so much better if they focused on more success stories like yours and how you made the band work for you. To me the article was too negative. It's true that it's not an easy fix and there can be complications. But it IS a fix and many compliant banders find their lives totally transformed, all for the better. Anyway, although I would have liked the article to be more positive, it was still a good way to get some info out to the public. And you look fit and fantastic!!!!

Congratulations Alex!

Thank you for all you do. I think the article leaned towards the negative side regarding the lap band. It's only a tool. I give you a lot of credit because the lap band takes a great deal of discipline in order to LOSE the weight and KEEP the weight off.

Blessings,

Kathleen

Well, duhhh!! You ARE a celebrity, Alex.... And I never really saw a picture of you until now... Can we say HOTTIE?!!

Was kinda bummed out because it was leaning so negatively towards the band. Also, Mitchell Roslin was my sister's surgeon.

Way to go Alex !!! Thanks for being our "voice" for WLS patients !!! I agree with the above post about the article being so negative. Where was all the success stories and positive comments ? Im almost 3 yrs out and I still can't come up with anything negative !! Where are the stories on that ??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
