I am not letting anyone at work know I am having surgery! Is it realistic to only take a week off work? I had two other non-related surgeries and only took off two weeks with those.

I am only taking off a week, I have a sit down office job, so it makes it easier to sustain (i hope) any discomfort. But that all depends on what kind of work you do...if you are on your feet all day...the Doctor would probably recommend long than a week....check with your Doctor, might get a better answer :P

Hi! I am 2 weeks post op today and I was back after my 1 week post op appt. I too have a sedentary job and do still get tired, but feel pretty good. I will tell you, as much as you may not want to, walk, walk, walk! It helps! Good luck!

I only took one week. I'm at day 8. I felt good enough to come back. Listen to your body. I agree, walking is the key. I started off with half a block and am up to 1.5 miles a day. Going to try for 2 miles tonight. Good Luck!

I had to take two weeks. There was no way I could go back in one week. One of my incisions was very sore and sometimes when I stood up it was hard to stand up straight right away. The longer I sit the worse it was. It just all depends. I told my employer I hoped to come back in a week but I got two approved just in case.

I'm walking during lunch and on my breaks. The majority of my walking is after work though.

I took one week off, and it was easy, not tired, not sore, no problems.. Listen to your body, I could have gone back after four days and been fine. I guess it all depends on you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
