Lotsacurves 0 Posted May 8, 2007 Hello all! I am still in the daydreaming phase of all of this....what finally tipped you over the edge, and made you decide to go for it? Personally, I've felt fat for most of my life. I crave food constantly. I've done WW, Jenny Craig, etc. etc. Right now I'm about 248, and totally hating it. I get out of breath, can't bend over, haven't crossed my legs in years. I've tried and failed so many times, it's nearly impossible to stay motivated. I'm close to getting engaged, and I don't want to be embarrassed at my own wedding. So - what made you do it? Thanks!!
TerriDoodle 6 Posted May 8, 2007 the fact that scale had been doing nothing but going UP for 3 years, no matter what I did. I was headed for 275 and I could see it clear as day. I had been researching the band and then one day, out of the blue, my dear friend asked me if I had ever heard of the gastric band?...and that she was considering it. Well, she's a nurse and I respect her very much...we talked about it and that's what convinced me. I went to my doc's seminar and a month later I was banded (self pay)!! My friend is enrolled in her insurance 6-month program and is anxiously watching my progress.
Kat817 19 Posted May 8, 2007 Pretty much the same situation with me. I was totally disgusted with myself, and the weight I kept gaining. I was afraid I was going to die of one of my health issues, and that no one would be able to lift my casket! Seriously---I worried about it! A friend and I had discussed the band, and began looking into it. She and her husband went to MX self pay within a couple of months. I was trying to get insurance to pay---so fought with them for almost a year---and ended up in MX self pay as well! By the time I had my surgery, she and her DH had both lost a lot of weight! My SIL and I went together to have it done. I do not regret a single thing about it! I'd do it again in a heart beat. I have recommended it to lots of people (who ask---I do not go up suggesting it to strangers!!!!), and have had a couple follow me! Good Luck in making your decision. Do lots of research! Welcome to LBT! Kat
