SandyM 1,956 Posted September 24, 2014 I won't lie. I fight head hunger as much as the next guy or gal. I more than occasionally give in. Well, last night, after going to bed, my mind drifted to the pantry where the "treats" I keep for the grandkids dwell. The fat little devil on my left shoulder told me it would be ok to have one. The skinny little angel on my right one told me what a fool I would be, after all, yesterday was my fast day and I did so well. These two little mini-me's kept me awake for well over an hour arguing about the pros and cons of treating myself. It's after midnight, so it's no longer your fast day. Yeah, but its solid carbs and will make you crave more. Yeah, but who cares, you had your fast day....Anyway, finally I managed to drift off to sleep. About an hour later, I was awake again and they resumed their argument. Those zebra cakes were calling me. I finally did manage to get to sleep and made it to the morning without giving in. But when I awoke, one of my Chihuahuas was missing and I had a horrible taste in my mouth. Oh.....he was just under the covers . Cheers to fighting the demons off one more night. The Candidate 3,215 Posted September 24, 2014 That was absolutely hilarious! Did not expect that little surprise at the end. For a split second there I was thinking: "Oh no! She has head hunger AND now on top of that she's lost her poor little dog!" Thanks for the giggle.
Julie norton 2,850 Posted September 24, 2014 Funny story.... Truth be told I believe lots of us fight those night "should I eat or go to sleep". Demons. Mostly the angel wins.... Other times.....

2muchfun 8,927 Posted September 24, 2014 I went to a dinner at some friends house and they had chips and nuts and bruschetta. The processed carbs just went down like Water and I couldn't get enough. That's why I don't have them in my house. Sometimes we'll entertain and I feel like I have to buy junk and I end up begging everyone to take the crap out of my house, If they don't, I cave the next day, most of the time. JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted September 24, 2014 @@SandyM, this was great! I can so relate. Head hunger is a beast! This made me laugh, which I needed tonight after having a long distance argument with my daughter which made me HUNGRY right before bed!!!!
jhaymom 38 Posted September 24, 2014 I have been feeling the same way. It's so hard not to treat yourself when other people in the house are. My parents live with us and they are junk food eaters (the reason why I'm this way) and not overweight. So right now in the fridge is a homemade apple pie and some left over cheesecake. I did have a taste of each, but now that little devil is trying to get me to have more. So far I have resisted, but it is difficult. Stay focused and think of this new future we have for ourselves! Debbie3sons 1,936 Posted September 24, 2014 I really don't have to worry to much but it is funny that everyone in my house sends me for fast food, & when we're out of snacks( chips & being I don't drink soda any more or eat tortillas which tortillas & soda used to be a staple for me , yes I would love to have them again ,but I also don't want the 110 lbs or not being able for my legs to hold up that weight so I have them put it out of sight & in their rooms , because out of my sight is out of my mind & I'm already out of my mind Lol @ SandyM I'm glad you found your chiahuaua & didn't think it was a big snack LoL. Yes I agree....thank heaven for the band!
Bandista 7,466 Posted September 24, 2014 Before being banded I could not resist -- I felt powerless. Now I can, most of the time. It's amazing, this thing! And for me it's better to go ahead and have a little of whatever it is than to deny myself. The miracle is that a little will do it. I was a "finisher" before. SandyM 1,956 Posted September 24, 2014 Yeah, I think the Snacks may have to be locked away. Just knowing they were there kept me up last night again...get this...16 assorted pastries (ranging between 500-800 calories each...from SAMs club.). It's gonna take awhile for those things to disappear. This may actually be good for me.......if I can stay strong. Maybe thats what mama meant when she said "what don't kill you will make you strong". I feel like a druggy drying out sometimes.
JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted September 24, 2014 Yes, drying out. I compare it to a muscle being strengthened with exercise. Every day I don't snack or don't choose fried food or don't eat popcorn at the movies, I've strengthened the new habit muscles and it truly does get easier to say no next time. I'm also trying to remember that it's actually saying yes to healthy choices and yes to my new life. Not a negative at all.
Kitt3000 757 Posted September 24, 2014 My own children are feeding my grandchildren with a more healthy diet. I am banned from giving them junk food. I've asked them for healthy snack treat ideas, and they have complied. Now I'm passing out eating better to the next generation, and helping myself at the same time! Yee haw! SandyM 1,956 Posted September 24, 2014 Yeah, I'm a bad influence. They eat healthy at home, that's why they love coming to my house. We limit how many treats they can have just not the nutritional value
